How the Auto-Migrator Works

The WHASOLS Data Migrator tool imports all your data from WHMCS (or another WHASOLS installation) directly into your new WHASOLS system. Here's how it works, step by step.

Enter your source database credentials

In your WHASOLS admin panel, navigate to the Data Migrator tool. Select whether you're migrating from WHMCS or another WHASOLS installation, then enter the database host, name, username, and password of your source system.

Tip: You'll find your WHMCS database credentials in your WHMCS configuration.php file.

Run checks and requirements validation

WHASOLS will verify the connection to your source database and check that all requirements are met before starting the migration. Any issues will be flagged with clear instructions on how to resolve them.

Click Next to start the import

Once the validation passes, click the Next button to begin the data import. WHASOLS will transfer your clients, invoices, services, domains, and tickets automatically. The process runs in the background — no need to stay on the page.

Note: Migration time depends on the amount of data. Most installs with under 500 clients complete in 10–30 minutes.

Verify your data

After the migration completes, log in as a few test clients and verify their services, invoices, and domains look correct. Check that next due dates are accurate.

Configure your payment gateways & control panels

Re-enter your payment gateway API keys and control panel credentials in WHASOLS settings. These are not transferred for security reasons — you'll need your PayPal, Stripe, cPanel, etc. credentials handy.

Go live — you're done! 🎉

Update your domain's DNS to point to WHASOLS, or switch your client area URL. Your clients log in as normal — they won't notice a thing. You can cancel WHMCS whenever you're ready.

Will my clients experience any downtime?

No. You can run the migration while your WHMCS is still live. Once migration is complete and you've verified everything, simply switch your client area URL to point to WHASOLS. Your clients won't notice any interruption.

Do I need technical knowledge to migrate?

What happens to my payment gateway integrations?
